Weighbridge_aerial.jpg   An aerial view of the old Weighbridge bus station in St. Helier taken from the top of Snow Hill. Top left of the picture is Liberation Square and the tourism offices, behind which is where the new bus station is located. To the right (off shot) is the JMT offices and depot.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (317)

Weighbridge_front.jpg   A photo of various buses parked in the old Weighbridge bus terminus, taken from just outside where Connex's original office was to be based (JMT's was further along to the right opposite the front of bus 38 far right of the picture). The layout of the Weighbridge terminus varied over the years but this was the final layout. Parallel stands were situated down the middle of the bus station, each capable of holding 2 vehicles, with room to park a further 2 alongside.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (211)
JMT_7.jpg   Many Jersey buses have carried adverts for alcoholic products. Dart 7 (J75609) carried an advert for Bavaria Lager. One of JMT's Fords carried a temporary version of this advert when this bus missed the entire 1996 summer season following severe accident damage.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (194)
JMT6ACC.jpg   When JMT's Darts were new, they used to be shipped back to the UK for accident repairs. Later JMT's skilled workshop staff were able to deal with these repairs themselves. Here is Dart 6 undergoing repairs following a collision with a Land Rover at Rozel in August 2002.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (184)
BACK_LINE.jpg   Representing the changing faces of the JMT fleet. On the left are two Duple Dominant bodied Fords from the early 80s. In the middle are 2 Leyland Swifts from 1991. On the right are 2 of JMTs most modern buses, Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (161)

JMT_MCWS.jpg   2 of JMT's Metroriders resting at The Weighbridge. When purchased in 1988 they were intended for town routes 18 & 19. Latterly they were used solely for standbys and the peak-only commuter service 22. However during the summer of 1999 they were used on the short-lived Town Hoppa service, due to the unreliability of 3 ex-Oxford electric Metroriders purchased for the route.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (153)
10 JMT_8.jpg   Locale is the name of Jersey's Co-operative chain of stores, the locations of which can be seen along the cove panels of 1994 Dart no. 8 (J46631).  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (146)
11 JMT11INT.jpg   An interior photo of JMT Dart no. 11, having just been internally cleaned at the end of a day's work. It was common for buses which spent summer afternoons working the St. Brelades route to have a rather sandy floor by the end of the day. The blue vinyl seating was the standard choice for JMT buses. Only a handful of other vehicles had moquette seating.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (144)
12 TBCT_206.JPG   Plaxton bodied Dennis Dart 206 (J90454) was new to Isle of Man Transport in 1994. JMT acquired it as part of a batch of 6 in summer 2000. When JMT closed in 2002 all Darts were retained and used on Easylink services. All but 6 were sold off in 2007, the remainder being retained primarily for hotel pick-ups and night work.  Tantivy Blue Coach Tours  (141)
13 JMT_6.jpg   Dart 6 (J46744) was another from the original batch purchased new in 1994. In 1999 it was painted into this black Living Legend advertising livery featuring Jim Bergerac's face on the sides and rear. Prior to this advert this bus was the Ribena bus.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (140)
14 JMT_7_2.jpg   Side and rear profile of Bavaria Lager Dennis Dart 7 (J75609). The silver plate above the nearside rear light cluster is a PSV licence plate for the vehicle which is a legal requirement for buses over a certain size in Jersey.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (140)
15 JMT_9.jpg   Dart 9 (J93500) came from the Isle of Man in 2000, and sports full JMT livery complete with the JERSEY BUS fleetname introduced in 1998.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (132)
16 JMTFORD53.jpg   JMT's old Ford R1014 53 (J58125) carried a traditional advert for Coca-Cola, as illustrated in this picture taken in October 1994.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (130)
17 JMT14.jpg   Dart 14 (J90172) was one of a batch of 6 purchased from the Isle of Man transport in 2000. They differed from the JMT Darts by having grey felt soft trim instead of white laminate, and red moquette seating, which had been replaced by the JMT blue vinyl when this picture was taken during Christmas 2000.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (129)
18 JMT49.jpg   This rather loud livery endorsed by Jersey Road Safety was applied to 1998 Dart 49 (J64744).   JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (128)
19 JMT46.jpg   Swift 46 (J16043) shows clear signs of previously working the route these buses were intended for, the 21. The tight turns and narrow lanes around Victoria Village are too much for the larger Darts, the wheelbase and dimensions of the Swift make them ideal for negotiating the route.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (121)
20 JMT50.jpg   The last of JMT's 4 long Metroriders was 50 (J71210). The PBS livery it carries was originally painted on sister 28, which was scrapped in 1999 following an engine fire. Following the closure of JMT in 2002, this bus was sold to a local Scout group.  JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles  (118)

    Pioneer Coaches
Pioneer Coaches was an independent coach operator in Jersey owned by Mick Eden. Pioneer's livery was black and white and they operated a fleet of mostly Leyland Swifts, although they did own three modern Cannon Hi-Lines as well as several older oddities.

Tantivy Blue Coach purchased the business in November 2000, absorbing most of the Pioneer fleet into its own. This batch of photos shows several members of the fleet in store at Living Legend after the takeover, as well as a couple of buses acquired but unused by Pioneer.
    Other Jersey Operators
A collection of photos of vehicles belonging to smaller Jersey operators.

Includes Minibus Direct - and I've also included photos of the Electric Metroriders from the Hoppa route in here.
    Tantivy Blue Coach Tours
Tantivy Blue Coach Tours is the result of the amalgamation of several of Jersey's coach operators over the years. This includes Tantivy Motors, Blue Coach Tours, Pioneer Coaches and Holiday Tours. Tantivy's livery is two tone blue with gold lettering.
    Waverley Coaches
Waverley Coaches are the last remaining independent 'big' coach operator in Jersey. The bulk of the fleet is made up of Cannon Hi-Lines and Leyland Swifts. Waverley's fleet livery is yellow and white.
    JMT & Jersey Bus vehicles
'Jersey Bus' was the final operating name of Jersey Motor Transport (JMT) prior to being replaced by Connex as Jersey's main bus operator at the end of the 2002 summer season. There was an interesting mix of vehicles in the final fleet.
JMT's fleet livery was white with blue skirt, with blue and red JERSEY BUS fleetnames. However the majority of the front line fleet wore various overall advertisement liveries, some of which are included in this collection.
    The Connex Era (2002-present)
From October 1 2002, Connex won the tender from the States of Jersey to operate the island's bus services for the next seven years. A new fleet of buses appeared overnight and radically updated the rolling stock serving the people of Jersey.
